Oh please... it was a bad choice of wording. I said "KDs such as shock". Thats implying that there were multiple KDs, some of which could be prevented by SB. It was a poor choice of word order but I think its obvious what I meant.

First of all, "KDs such as shock" was not even the phrase that you had used. Alow me to refresh your memory; KDs like shock (http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...&postcount=189) So having said that, the phrase that you used and later decided to change, does not imply anything except that the knockdowns faced, was the skill "shock".

Its funny when people term these high ranked players best. If only us ordinary not so good players had the same amount of time as these "best" players, I am sure there would have been a few more "best" players on your list. Most of these so called best players are as overrated as the rank system itself who spend considerable amount of time every day to get fame.
Also, there is no "best players in the game" for you see, the game isn't just one form where you can test your mettle 1v1 to decide who the best is. Nor is it one fixed mode of play - Heroes Ascent, there exists GvG, RA, Team Arena. Just because they don't play in HA doesn't mean they are less skilled as those high ranked players who play HA all day every day.

the one i quoted said "Rank is useless but the best players in game are rank 6-10" and i found it contradictory.
yea we share the same views. no worries :P.
ill be frank. the only best players in game are the ones winning ladder seasons and championships.

Read the quote again. I said lack of experience, not skill. Theres a big difference between the two.

Omg I misworded a post, shoot me. If it makes you feel any cooler to constantly bring up someone's bad choice of wording, more power to you. I know I knew that shock went through SB for a longggg time but if you want to think I didn't know up untill after that post, go ahead.
Also when I say skills LIKE shock (which btw, means the exact same thing as skills such as shock) it means shock was one of the KDs, but not the only KD, as I quickly corrected later there were also 2 gale spammers.
Who said I don't understand the skillbars? Because I make one misworded post about shock and SB, that means I don't know anything about any other skills?
P.S - Sektor and friends, do you really feel cool for spamming "Yunas Ele - Shock doesn't go through SB" all match? I woulda really loved to vs you guys but we skipped their for 1 fame so the team just wanted to resign. Although if we won you guys woulda just cried "zomg u guyz use teh overpowerd skillz dis not fair!111"

This is an old debate and will continue to drag on while HA still exists. There have been many ideas to solve the problem of rank elitism but, since its part of human nature, its not gonna go away.
I personally think there should be titles for Balths Faction earned instead of the fame system. I think total Balths faction earned is more a true measure of PvP experience than fame ever will be. But that wont stop the snobbery.
If you get fustrated at not getting into groups (and this has been said many times before), join a pvp guild that HAs regular or build up a collection of friends you pug with.

I got to Rank 3 then continued farming The Underworld (PvE that is) because the whole HA system is a mess and its not fun/enjoyable.
"Guild Wars" must be a typo of "Build Wars" because 'build' is the most important factor in deciding your victory or defeat. It does take background knowledge of maps, relics, ghostly heroes, capping times, interrupts and so on, i'll grant you that. Even the IWAY-ers have that 'skill' for want of a better word.
We all know that the NR/Tranq build is the FotM which is fair enough and its effective/popular because last month's cookie-cutters don't have the right counters and by next month everyone will probably have Me/E Unnatural/Gale spammers on the rangers then the we'll have a new FotM.
The point being, people with higher rank understand the concepts involved in winning annhialation maps and holding maps so they get in to these groups and new build + experience = victory. Fame is a mindless by-product of winning.
If I chose to dedicate my time grinding with IWAY, EoE bomb or another fame-farming build instead of farming PvE I could have been a decent rank and that goes for absolutely anybody.
"Skill decides your victory" - my Gw box.
Is that another typo? "Skills" would be a better word.

many people have capped their balth faction long ago and may only have <300k to show for it, so unless they change the faction cap or revamp balth faction somehow, its just not viable for a measure of pvp experience. Its also good to be able to discern where people have gotten the pvp experience as well. The person with the most balth faction could have gotten it all farming alliance battles and random arenas. That doesn't make them a good choice for a tombs group.

I'm not saying your a bad player by any means but with 27 fame chances are you haven't even seen all the maps. EviL aren't experienced at tombs but that sure as heck doesn't make them a bad player, and I can tell you I'd take any of them into my tombs group if I got the chance.
All I'm saying is we all had to go through this one time or another. as Aejorii puts it you are not special enough to get a "free fame ticket". If people want to be rank elitism, let them. I'm not saying its right but complaining about it won't get you into their groups.

i have nothing against that kind of rank elitism, in that people wanna reach 20.000 fame. if they have the time, then so be it.^^ but if it starts involving me and others in a negative way, then i feel like cartman quotes now and then: "screw u guys, im going home"^^ lol

Reading along the pages, seems IWAY hate, rank elitism, lack of HA knowledge.
Ranked groups are everywhere and having to find a Non-ranked group is not so hard. I seen many ranked groups asking for ranked people usually don't ask for an emote from you due to them not having one themself. In which they are trying to get good people to build up their fame/rank. Plus many HA guilds are forming why not try out and join them, and get your rank. An Iway guild, I would say is the least you would want to join.
BUT, the most important things to do in HA is:
Position- watch the compass, don't stray off out of healing range or get spiked or in a place hard to res you from.
Orders- use vent or TS to follow commands.
HA Knowledge- this means seeing every map, watch observer mode.
Build- have the correct build, not half of one build, and skills you shouldn't be having. If not an uptight leader just simply say " any specific build you want", and many give you the build.
Manners- IF, you made a mistake and people notice it, LEARN from it, don't start cussing and start an uprising in the group.
Ragequitting-vent and TS keeps the group the together most of the time, but don't ragequit on behalf of one or your ownself.
Friends-pugging HA you make a ton of friends who would PM you when a slot is empty.
Lastly, have fun, only a game can't affect your life unless your in the championship .

I have to agree with this post 100%.
To get rank you have to join a good team.
A good team, more often than not, has rank 3 plus. If you are like me, rank 1, you are persona non grata and cannot get into a team.
The alternative is to spam ' ...... lfg' for continious long periods of time and with luck u can find people like yourself and get into a team.
I spent 1 and a half hours last night spamming before getting into a team.
Its a sad and ironic situation. Obviously for those with rank3+ its very easy to be the cruel cold hearted stereotypes and snob along.
Obviously these people do not rememebr when they were unranked and had the same problem. As it has been pointed out above, such is life.
Anet could perhaps arrive at a better system for this and the point mentioned above that faction should be the contributing factor for emotes, is totally true.
I mean the titles system sucks big time, but this is not a subject for this thread.
The more I think about it, why could not Anet have another area similar like HA whereupon the ceiling was rank 3.
When u get to rank 3 you cannot participate there.
Something similar to the arenas in ascalon and yaks.
Its just a thought but lets face it fame farming is hard, not because of skills usage or team builds but just getting a team.
Team builds and skill usages are easily obtainable in forums such as this one.
Its very frustrating guys. I share this frustration too.
I do not really fancy joining another guild just to farm fame as I have strong ties in my Guild and I dont think this is the sloution to this.
This is a game, not an institute of perfection and there should be a fairer system in place accessioble to all.
I re-iterate that my answer here is untoward the personal experience of any player, as even rank3+ can be beaten by unranked players.
All for now .........
